| SmCo Magnets
|
|
|
Samarium cobalt magnets (SmCo) currently fall into two
families of materials.They are SmCo5 and Sm2Co17. SmCo5
is usually binary of ternary alloys with the approximate
atomic ratio of one samarium atom to five cobalt atoms.Sm2Co17
is an age hardening type with a com-position ratio of
2 samarium atoms to 13-17 atoms of cobalt.
They are usually formed by sintering.Sintered SoCo magnet
have the character of brittleness, lacking of the ductility, thus
need to be handled carefully. Withstands corrosion exceptionally
well,so no coating is needed for surface protection. |
